1.     Success of the Ph.D. Program: The Ph.D. program in SustainableDevelopment and Climate Change has been successful. The participation ofItalian universities has increased from 30 to 52. This year we received 1500applications for almost 130 scholarships, with 80% of the applications comingfrom abroad.

2.     Diversity and Interdisciplinarity: The Ph.D. program is appreciatedfor its interdisciplinary environment, involving professors from over 50universities with diverse specializations. Students come from variousbackgrounds, such as engineering, political science, and internationalrelations and philosophy.

3.     Involvement of Businesses: Businesses are increasinglyinvolved in the Ph.D. program, contributing financially. This demonstratescompanies' interest in themes such as sustainable development and climatechange.

4.     Social Relevance: The Ph.D. program is not only forthose aspiring to become university professors or researchers. The goal is tocultivate an open mindset in young individuals and prepare them for careersoutside the academic sphere, focusing on solving society's long-term problems.

5.     Transitions Center: IUSS is launching aninter-university Center on Transitions, addressing the continuous societalchanges. The aim is to develop methods to guide society through thesetransitions, incorporating diverse skills, not only technical but alsohumanistic, such as cognitive sciences and geopolitics.
