
PhD candidates from the 38th cycle gathered at Venice International University to share research, foster collaboration, and explore pathways to a sustainable future.
From November 10–12, 2025, the PhD-SDC Conference “Sustainability and Decarbonisation in Action” brought together students from the 38th cycle at the Venice International University, located on the scenic San Servolo Island.
The conference was designed not only to empower PhD candidates to present their research within the SDC community but also to encourage peer engagement and promote interdisciplinary collaboration. Through sessions on research presentations, thesis preparation, and open discussions with supervisors, participants deepened their academic skills and built meaningful professional connections.
The event explored how research, innovation, and collaboration can accelerate real-world sustainability transitions. Topics included sustainable transport, decarbonisation strategies, climate change litigation, and innovation in sustainable industries, sparking vibrant exchanges among students and faculty alike.
The conference marked a moment of connection, inspiration, and shared purpose, reinforcing the SDC community’s commitment to advancing knowledge and action for a sustainable future.
