A three-day event in Tuscany introduced a collaborative, human-centred approach to research and knowledge co-creation
From September 30 to October 2, 2025, PhD candidates of the Sustainable Development and Climate Change program (PhD-SDC) took part in a unique training experience hosted at Tenuta Lab in Paganico and Suvignano, in collaboration with the Department of Agricultural, Food and Agro-Environmental Sciences, University of Pisa.
The event introduced the Participatory Design Didactic Approach (PDDA), an innovative training model grounded in human-centred design. This methodology emphasizes co-designing research with people, encouraging teamwork, shared learning, and stronger community ties.
Through a mix of participatory activities, collaborative research sessions, and team-building exercises, the program connected theory with practice, empowering young researchers to co-create knowledge and address complex sustainability challenges collectively.
The initiative, organized in collaboration with Tenuta Lab in Paganico and the University of Pisa, provided a transformative experience that highlighted the value of collaboration and interdisciplinarity in doctoral training.
