About me

Arianna Poletti is a freelance journalist who has been living in Tunisia for four years. From Tunis, she has collaborated with several Italian and international media outlets. Her fieldwork focuses on social, environmental and post-colonial issues between Europe and North Africa. She previously worked in France for the magazine Jeune Afrique and is a member of the freelance collective Fada.

My research

The categorization of people on the move does not explicitly address the climate context. The expression 'climate refugee' is not based on any norm present in international law. Yet, the consequences of the climate crisis are already part of the leading causes of displacement. This ambiguity raises an urgent and necessary question about the relevance of the current classification.
