My name is  Joao Victor de Oliveira Pontes, I am half Brazilian and half Portuguese, with a BSc. in Petroleum Engineering and a double-degree MSc. in Energy Transition from AGH UST in Krakow, Poland, and IST-UL, in Lisbon, Portugal. I have being working, throughout my BSc. and MSc., with focus on sustainability and environment in the energy sector in Europe, specifically connected to biodiesel, biofuels, waste valorization and alternative fuels.

This  research project will contribute to the development and upscaling of a  versatile and efficient negative emission technology for decarbonization: biochar. The  project aims at optimizing the carbon sequestration potential offered by biochar production, map its applications in the agricultural sector and improve the accounting of its  emission offsetting potential as being a stable carbon sink.
