About me

Chiara graduated in 2021 in Modern Languages and Literatures from the University of Turin with a thesis titled Voices of Dissent: Eco-literatures and Colonial Legacies. She currently works at the University of Ferrara in the context of the interdisciplinary Ph.D. programme Environmental Sustainability and Wellbeing. She also collaborates with Centro IDEA, a local centre for the promotion of sustainability through education.

My research

The aim of Chiara's research project is that of exploring representations of degraded environments in contemporary works of literature by Anglophone and Francophone authors from the Tropics. Specific attention is devoted to degraded soils and to their possible interactions with literary texts. Hence, specific methodological tools will be developed to cast light on the material and cultural relevance of soils in and beyond literature.
